Yes we used to go to Forest Park on Saturday and hang out in the bushes at the tennis court waiting for the tennis balls to fly out and we would take them and then Sunday we would play all day.

We would burn the fuzz off the tennis ball and use a broom stick or shovel handle as a bat. You're right we played that for hours on end

That dang ball hurt to when it hit ya. We would wrap the end of the broom handle or whatever was used with duct tape because if ya swung real hard and let go, that piece of wood was gonna hurt somebody......hahahaha

Fuzzball is how I tore my shoulder up. I could throw a mean slider and we would play for hours... we used a cork ball bat or a broom handle. I would always get hit with the ball due to the fact I wouldn't move out of the way LOL.. never hurt that much, well not compared to a baseball. I led my team in hit bats men. I would have a bruise permanently on my tricep .. then again back then I was nuts LOL

The bar at the corner of Oregon and Magnolia was Jim & Charlie's I think that was the name.. anyway not only did the have a block party with a polka band but every weekend they had a bottle cap game going on. My dad worked at Laclede Gas' Meter Shop right on the corner of Gravois and California .. anyway our back yard is where all the men would come over and Bar b Que, drink beer and play whiffle ball

Never heard of fuzzball but after reading it is what we called stick ball. I grew up in PA before the Air Force brought me to Stl.

We called stick ball also but we mostly called it fuzzball. There's something about being 13 or 14 and using the word FUZZ. hahaha
